Queens of Hip Hop

Presented by Athens-based hip-hop fanzine Volumes, the “Queens of Hip Hop” event on the Rooftop brings together Athens and Atlanta-area artists in order to spotlight some of the most talented female MCs and singers currently operating in our great state. Local performers include R&B standout Stella Groove, upstart rapper Minnie Lea and newcomer Torie Raven, with out-of-towners Feel Jas, Ke Turner and former “American Idol” contestant Nica Nashae also on the bill, plus other guests. Coming on the heels of the recent “For the Ladies” hip-hop showcase at Ciné, Monday’s event is further proof that, in many ways, women continue to lead the way in Athens music.
