Repent at Leisure
Friday is St. Patrick’s Day, which means the streets of downtown will be saturated with puddles of (festive green!) puke long before 2 a.m. Look, there’s no shame in celebrating America’s drunkest holiday just like the rest of the country, but you can at least avoid the Irish Car Bombs in favor of something a little, well, craftier. Southern Brewing’s second annual shindig will feature music from Irish folk-rock outfit Repent at Leisure, and the brewery will serve up 26 of its tasty offerings, including the Cuchulainn Irish Red. The malt used to brew the limited-edition beer is imported from a small Irish farm called Loughran Malt, and is based on a 108-year-old family recipe. Doesn’t that sound nicer than Technicolor Bud Light?
Celebrate with brewery tours, beer samples and live music by Repent at Leisure and Johnny Hatchet and The Alrights. The Holy Crepe food truck will be on-site to satisfy munchies. See Calendar Pick on p. 24.
