Ben Ricketts, John Fernandes

Oxford, MS-based singer-songwriter and dedicated visual artist Ben Ricketts swings through Athens Wednesday as part of his current Southeastern tour. The underground musician’s self-recorded and self-released psychedelic pop owes much to the warped legacy of Athens’ influential Elephant 6 artistic collective; recent releases, like February’s “Laughing Moon I”/“Laughing Moon II” single, feature subtle pop songcraft willfully obscured by washed-out atmospherics. Appropriately, Ricketts will be joined on the Flicker bill by E6 luminary and Cloud Recordings proprietor John Fernandes (the Olivia Tremor Control, Circulatory System), who will share an opening set of his own experimental-minded sounds.
