Band founders Kevin Craig and Max Shultz launched this project last year under the name The K-Macks Endeavor. The duo has played together since middle school, and The K-Macks started as an acoustic project pursued just for fun. That's around the time the band had songs with titles like "Eruption in My Pants." It wasn't until around December of last year that the long-time friends started to find their focus. After recruiting drummer Jake Hicks (ex-The Empties), the lineup was complete. Even if there is still a sense of humor and fun in the group's vibrant personality, the tunes are more weighty - drawing resemblance to modern rock artists like Incubus. If you don't mind the hour-and-a-half drive, The K-Macks will celebrate the release of their debut full-length studio album at Buffington's in Milledgeville on Sept. 11. Otherwise, see you at the Athens date below. We're still waiting for a preview of the new material over at www.myspace.com/thekmacks.
Next show: Saturday, Sept. 6 at Rye Bar.
