The Interns

So, are all these guys interns somewhere? As a matter of fact, yes. King, Miles and Johnson all met while interning at Chase Park Transduction Studios. The experience has served them well. Johnson continues to work at Chase Park as a recording engineer, and The Interns recorded their debut, self-titled record at the studio back in November. When pressed for specific influences, Johnson says, "Our influences are the things around us more than any specific artist or music type.  I guess our songs are mostly about recreating a moment or feeling, or creating it for the first time, and incorporating different elements of the different kinds of music that best accomplish that." The overall feel is a sort of an edgy yet ambient folk rock that falls somewhere between Sparklehorse and Wilco. If you catch The Interns live, you're likely to also see Futurebirds on the bill - that band shares King and Bradford as members.
