Puddin' Tang
Puddin' Tang may have moved to Athens from New York City, but these songs feel like they were born somewhere deep down in Louisiana, you know, way back up in the woods among the evergreens. Drawing from the very origins of rock and roll, Oak and Wishbone holler back and forth over foot-stomping 12-bar blues infused with some funky soul. The songs are dirty and innocent at the same time, capturing that youthful vigor that rock and roll once so brazenly represented. Modern rock and roll revivalists like Von Bondies, The Pink Spiders or Mooney Suzuki (of which it's rumored Munson was briefly a member), could probably party hard with the Tang, but comparisons to the originators - from Diddley to Velvet Underground - seem more on target.
