Well, the band calls itself "noisy pop," but this isn't popular music in any conventional sense of the word. At all. Bubbly Mommy Gun features haunting found sounds swirled into a gentle cacophony. Sometimes there are slivers of cohesion - an actual acoustic guitar progression here or there - but there are always elements of detachment and experimentation. Haunting vocals occasionally amble over the mix while static or detuned strings twist the song into abstraction. It's a wild listen and even more so live - although the off-kilter sounds haven't been received warmly in all venues. Says the band, "We played the Myers quad in 2007 and were not asked back in 2008." Better luck downtown, fellas!
