Pylon Guitarist Randy Bewley Suffers Heart Attack
Randy Bewley
On the evening of Monday, Feb. 23 Athens musician and artist Randy Bewley suffered a heart attack while driving just west of downtown Athens on Barber Street. His van drifted from the road and tipped over. No other people or vehicles were involved. Rescue workers were dispatched to the scene and performed CPR on Bewley before transporting him to the intensive care unit of Athens Regional Medical Center where he is currently in a coma. Best known worldwide for his work in Pylon, Bewley had also begun playing with Supercluster and Sound Houses over the past year. Band-mate and close friend Vanessa Briscoe Hay asks everyone to "keep Randy, his sons, family and friends in your thoughts and prayers." The contribution Bewley has made to the Athens music scene over the past 30-plus years both as a musician and local elementary school art teacher is practically immeasurable. So, to reiterate, please keep him and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
