On the Road with Dark Meat

Day 1

From the beginning of Dark Meat’s sweet young life, I, as cofounder and lead dude, have perpetually fielded questions centered squarely on the endeavor. Most inquisitions focus on the schematic elements of the undertaking; people puzzle regularly on the organization of shows and rehearsals, on financial concerns and sartorial issues, on schedule balancing and internal harmony. Particularly, rock-centric Athenians wonder about our survival tactics on the touring road. How have we traveled safely and sanely in our sundry sardine-packed vehicles? How has the group managed with the charity-based, and inherently spartan, couch-and-floor accommodations in other cities?

As miraculous as it seems, we have survived. Our huge, impoverished group has traversed this country a few times; making buddies, slaying drunkards and thrashing living rooms across the land. It’s been hands-down great, and we remain focused on making it happen again.

As you might’ve heard, we signed to VICE records, and, yes, we did buy an enormous green bus. We’ll be ramping up the activity something fierce and touring our asses off. I’ll miss Athens, but I do aim to keep y'all informed. During our two-month tour, I’ll be keeping a warts-and-all account for Flagpole you can read online at www.flagpole.com.

Catch Dark Meat next at the 40 Watt Friday, Apr. 4.
