- JOHNNY ACTION FIGURE
- (Tasty World) The appealingly boyish tunes of Pennsylvania's Johnny Action Figure rely heavily on upbeat, swishy acoustic tunes and vocal harmonies. Tonight's performance is part of the "Ta Ta to the Ta Tas" benefit.
- BETTER PEOPLE
- (Little Kings) Athens-based experimental noise duo Better People features guitarist Dave Campbell accompanying Doug Patterson (Zumm Zumm) as he utilizes an array of effects, four-tracks, wankery, and found sounds to conjure a burbling, jittery brain-scrub of sounds. The group should have copies of its most recent three-song EP. This show is the official kickoff for a tour with Long-Legged Woman.
- CAROLINA SHITKICKER
- (40 Watt) Formed from a handful of North Carolina ex-pats, this local four-piece is recording some tracks over at DARC, and the tunes tend towards blue-collar rock, not unlike more polished early Uncle Tupelo or the cow-punkier moments of Social Distortion - though sometimes with more twang, fiddle or guitar soloing.

- LONA
- (40 Watt) Lona is the flagship band for local songwriter, guitarist and drummer Clay Leverett (The Chasers, Now It's Overhead, Drip). The band sends out more than a little country and more than enough gutsy, mid-tempo rock.
- LONG-LEGGED WOMAN
- (Little Kings) Vaguely drony and mostly noisy, the duo of Gabe Vodicka and Justin Flowers plays music that's half-improvised, half-composed, and any given performance is rarely like the band's last one. - RASTA BLANCA
- (Caledonia) Reggae covers and originals.
- THE REIN
- (Repent) Evolve. Sleep. is the new EP from Atlanta gang The Rein, slipping some Joey Santiago-styled guitar into the more expected hardcore thump'n'scream.
- THE SNAKE, THE CROSS, THE CROWN
- (Tasty World) Folk-tinged, sing-along pop with layered keyboard backdrops and a strong melodic line is easy to do and hard to do well. Coming off a four-year stint in Santa Barbara with a fine new album, Cotton Teeth, in tow, The Snake, The Cross, The Crown does just that.

- "ATHENS 441"
- (Morton Theatre) It’s another show curated by WUGA 91.7 FM’s JoE Silva, taped and set to broadcast across the Southeast. Tonight's edition features the swirly and airy, flute-accented smooth jazz/indie-pop hybrid of M Coast as well as two other yet-to-be-announced acts.

- DON CHAMBERS
- (Georgia Theatre) Local guitarist-banjoist Don Chambers gets a lot of comparisons to Tom Waits, but that doesn’t quite hit the mark. Chambers’ songs have the closing-time chic of Waits, sure, but there’s a dusty undercurrent of sin and salvation that’s more in line with Johnny Cash or Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous. Solo tonight.
