NAUTILUS
(Tasty World) The band features James Feeney on drums, Andrew Haynes on bass, and Chris Keesecker on keyboards/ synth; they play covers and original songs inspired by hip-hop, jazz and electronic music.
“OPEN MIC NIGHT”
(DT’s) Every Tuesday.
PHOENIX PHARAOH
(Tasty World) Bassist-vocalist Jeff Hannan (ex-Shackler, Skull Spiderz), drummer Kevin Sims (Flash to Bang Time) and guitarist Tom Strickland (ex-Unabnormal) play original rock in the '70s-style punk vein, conjuring a few comparisons to the Stooges and the Ramones. Newly recorded single "Walkin" is up on their MySpace page.

Wednesday, Feb. 28
AEGIS OF ATHENA
(40 Watt) Thundering monster-voiced doom metal from this young group of guys. The hardcore band formerly went by the name Tristan & Isolde, but a couple of members have been trimmed and some new songs were written, and there so… new name! Free show.
BITCH SWITCH
(Detour) Mandy Jane, AKA DJ Repramanda, and Sandice Adina, AKA DJ Sandelous, spin thick dance grooves at tonight's benefit event addressing sexual violence.
ROBERT SARAZIN BLAKE

(Georgia Bar) Larry and Andrea Acquaviva celebrate the release of their new film/music project Lightning with an 8 p.m. screening. Following the film, performances from world-jazz fusers Would-Be Farmers, a duo performance from William Tonks & John Mills and The Bloodkin Review with members of that band performing songs new and old.
THE NEW SOUND OF NUMBERS
(Caledonia) Featuring Hannah Jones (guitar), Kathryn Refi (drums), John Fernandes (violin, clarinet), Heather McIntosh (bass), Will Hart (guitar, percussion) and Josh Skinner (percussion), the New Sound of Numbers delivers "quirky, driving rhythms with an optimistic post-punk feel." Kind of like The Shaggs with Grace Jones helping out on vocals.
“OPEN JAM”
(DT’s) Bring your instrument and join in. For more information, call 706-208-1474.
PRIME TIME JAZZ
(Porterhouse) Drummer Tony McCutchen, bassist Chris Enghauser and pianist Jim McKillip perform jazz standards for the dinner-and-a-drink set every Wednesday.
63 CRAYONS
(Caledonia) The local band’s jumpy, erratic, enthusiastic keyboard pop fits right in while carving its own niche. The Spread the Love EP and Good People full-length, both released in 2004, are full of harmonious chiming and caffeinated psychedelia. The band hasn’t poked its head out much this year due to some injuries and time spent recording the new Spoils for Survivors. Tonight's show celebrates the album's release; see p. 30 for a review.
SWEET-TOOTH SIMPLETON & THE SIMPLETONES
(Tasty World) Lyric-oriented folk tunes from these five local musicians, playing mostly acoustic on guitar, banjo, stand-up bass, mandolin, and occasionally some keyboards and fiddle.
TRANS-FATTY PLAYBOYS
(Flicker) Joe Willey, Ed Dowling, Kyle Wickings and Russell Tackett are an eclectic band ranging from straight, acoustic old-time and jug-band music to electric blues and alt-country. Fiddle, banjo, lap steel, harmonica, the whole shebang. 8:30 p.m.
TWIN POWERS
(Go Bar) Danceable New Wave and Britpop tunes. 10 p.m., every Wednesday.
UMPHREY’S McGEE
(Georgia Theatre) Safety in Numbers is the 2006 release from the erstwhile Indiana rock band, and the guys are following it up this April with The Bottom Half, a outtakes-and-B-sides-and-etcetera dive into the groups adventurous and Zappariffic jamming.
