- THE WAILERS
- (Georgia Theatre) Jamaican pros The Wailers have frequently shifted identities, sometimes favoring the big-band sound of the Skatalites or the rootsier, more soulful ska and reggae of Toots & The Maytals. (And Bob Marley’s shadow lingers still!) Where the Wailers have always excelled, however, is in live performance of both classic and current songs and in the transcendence of temporary, temporal concerns. With an ever-shifting lineup, legal issues between members and the label plagued the group last year.
- JASON “LEFTY” WILLIAMS
- (Amici) One-armed Atlanta guitarist Jason “Lefty” Williams at age 11 fashioned a pick to fit on what his website likes to call “his nubb,” and since he’s been turning out electrified rock, delving into funk, country and jazz covers and originals, either solo or with a backing band. -
- BO BEDINGFIELD & THE WYDELLES

- JOE BONAMASSA
- (Melting Point) Raised in a house full of guitars, Joe Bonamassa got a start at an early age. He fuses the "big rock sound" and swampy blues on his latest album You and Me, and has the sort of technical skill that wows industry types and musicians eager to find others with chops.
- DON CHAMBERS
- (Flicker) Local guitarist-banjoist Don Chambers gets a lot of comparisons to Tom Waits, but that doesn’t quite hit the mark. Chambers’ songs have the closing-time chic of Waits, sure, but there’s a dusty undercurrent of sin and salvation that’s more in line with Johnny Cash or Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous. 8:30 p.m.

- (Melting Point) Moodily compact and soulfully direct, the songs of California's Crosby Loggins draw on light rock, folk and pop sources. With his full band The Light he incorporates violins, mandolin and steel guitars, but tonight's show is a solo one. (And about that name, yep, Crosby is the son of Kenny Loggins.)
- LONA
- (40 Watt) Lona is the flagship band for local songwriter, guitarist and drummer Clay Leverett (The Chasers, Now It's Overhead, Drip). The band sends out more than a little country and more than enough gutsy, mid-tempo rock.

- (Amici) Jazz standards and originals from this trio led by Rand Lines, who also plays in local pop group Freeze Tag. He’s backed by bassist Jason Cheek and drummer Dennis Baraw. Every other Thursday.

- (Caledonia) Fronted by Robert Gunn and his powerful piano and augmented by drummer James McGaw, bassist Natalie Roberts and guitarist Roy Coughlin, An Epic At Best leans towards empathetic second-generation emo rock of the mid-to-late ’90s, but expands past cliché and presumption to something more authentic. Music starts promptly at 8 p.m.
- BEYOND TOMORROW

Proceeds from the event will go to support Nuçi’s Space summer music camp. 9 p.m.
- "COMMITTEE OF VIGILANCE"

- MP3J VINAL
- (Go Bar) Richard Vinal (of local hip hop / funk fusers Bling the Children Back Home) hosts the late-night eclectic dance party that’ll draw on classic favorites as well as the new Internet hotness.

- (Mercury Lounge) Rip-your-heart-out acoustic pop from Athenian singer-songwriter Sean Arington, formerly of bands Big Atomic and One Big Eye.
- CARL LINDBERG TRIO

- CELERITY
- (40 Watt) Punk-inspired hard rock band which last year moved to Athens from Savannah. The band says they get the “grunge” and “garage rock” comparison a lot, and recently wrapped a recording session at DARC for an upcoming EP.
- CHOOGLIN'
- (Georgia Theatre) According to the lyrics of Creedence Clearwater Revival's song "Keep On Chooglin'," "you gotta ball and have a good time / and that's what I call chooglin'." This Minneapolis band emphasizes "beer and a classic-rock sound."
- DARLA
- (40 Watt) Jimmy Taylor (ex-Iron Hero, Virgin Box Set), Chris Ellenburg (ex-Southern Bitch), John Watson and Ryan Rawls are the new local guitar-heavy rock band Darla. Bring on the Mimes is the band's already-in-the-can debut album, and this it the band's second show.
- FAIR JUNE
- (Tasty World) Emotional, soulful acoustic pop-rock with some serious grooves are on tap from this Chicago duo.
- FLYING

- FOLKLORE
- (Caledonia) The fuzzy pop songs of Jimmy Hughes (Elf Power, Bugs Eat Books) find backing from Jon Croxton, Aaron Jollay, Ian Rickert, Raoul De La Cruz and David Specht. They're fresh back from a national tour, and the band'll play songs off its debut full-length album The Ghost of H.W. Beaverman, out recently.

Homes, Rick Moody, Neil Gaiman and Denis Johnson. The new one called Wake Them Up is all theirs, though, and it continues the trend of "Felliniesque lit-rock." 8:30 p.m.
- “OPEN MIC NIGHT”
- (DT’s) Every Tuesday.
- ROBERT STILLMAN'S 'HORSES'
- (Caledonia) Composer/ multi-instrumentalist Robert Stillman last year released his album Horses, a gracefully diverse collection of rustic sounds that - when presented live as either a one-man outfit or with a band - bridge gaps between experimental folk, jazz, epic soundtracks and tape-spliced musique concrète.
- TITANS OF FILTH

- (40 Watt) New York's Brent Katz, Jose Soegaard, Lexy Benaim, Todd Goldstein and Kendrick Strauch play shimmery, tinny and dance-party-perfect garage-rock on the new disc Burning Birthdays.
- JONATHAN RICH & THE GOOD FIGHT
- (Tasty World) The Tennessee-born but Georgia-bred Jonathan Rich’s four-song EP After The Collapse displays his talent for pop hooks and heartfelt lyrics - think Weezer, think Chris Carraba, think Ben Folds.
- “KARAOKE”
- (Foxz) Every Wednesday.
- “KARAOKE”
- (Mell’s) Every Wednesday.
- KING OF PRUSSIA
- (Caledonia) King of Prussia's upcoming album Save the Scene uses shiny guitar, delayed pianos, sci-fi synths and brainy bass parts to deliver the finely-crafted and intensely catchy pop melodies. - RUSSIAN SPY CAMERA
- (Caledonia) Ryan White (guitar, vocals) and Andy Turner (drums, vocals) last year recruited musician McGregor Button, drawing in influences from rock, hip hop and electronic music. The band's quirky debut album You Are A Vulture is a jittery, electrified bundle of pop kineticism.
